What is the deal with Tesla, stock has gone up 10 fold in one year

Am I missing something. Is the world going to be using all electric cars by January 1st. You usually see this kind of move in penny stocks. I understand they are refining Auto-Pilot software but we are a long, long way from every city being flooded with auto driven vehicles. You only need a couple of fatalities to shut all that down. At the rate this stock is moving Elon Musk will move from the 4th richest person to first overtaking Jeff Bezos. He is worth over 85 billion. It's insane.

That said, my friend asked me if he should buy it at $300 and I told him it isn't something I'd invest in because I don't see a pathway to profitability anytime soon.

We have just under seven shares now via just under $5000 principal investment

Key questions to ponder, if helpful

1) Will the share of EV vs ICE vehicles go Up or will it go Down in coming (fill in your own number) years?

2) Since Tesla currently builds & sells over half the EVs worldwide, will they be able to remain a strong player in said number of years vs the other carmakers - *all of which* continue to prioritize ICE vehicles over EVs?

3) If yes to number 1 & 2, is it reasonable to forecast an average ROI at least 10% annually for said number of years

If still yes, then the current "price" is almost irrelevant. Just make a minimum monthly (or hell, weekly) commitment to methodically increasing your ownership
